Payment fees and insurance
Fees are calculated according to the procedure undertaken, including consultation, any necessary investigation, medication and surgical procedures. They can vary considerably according to what is required for your pets’ well-being. The veterinary surgeon will always discuss the specific costs and options for your pet with you, before any procedure is undertaken.
We ask for payment in full at the time of consultation or upon collection of the animal. We accept cash, debit and most major credit cards, with the exception of American Express.
Pet insurance cover
Comprehensive pet insurance cover provides both peace of mind and financial security, should the unthinkable happen. We are often asked about direct claims and these are available, but only by prior arrangement with Shepherds' Vets, and upon proof of insurance, policy documentation. All correct excesses are to be paid upon finalisation of recommended treatment.
We do not have the right to refuse direct claims on some policies. Please be aware that some conditions may be excluded from your policy, so therefore you are liable for all costs attributed to that particular exclusion.
We thoroughly recommend you discuss with your insurance company any exclusion or excesses when taking out or renewing your pet’s health insurance.
If you are wishing to claim treatment costs back under your insurance policy, please bring along with you:
- Current insurance policy documents
- A claim form correctly completed, signed and dated by the policy holder
We do endeavour that all insurance claims are completed and submitted to the appropriate insurance company within 10 days of receipt of signed insurance claim form from the client.
At all stages the primary responsibility for the pet’s account remains with the pet owner even if the pet is insured, as some insurance policies may not pay for all of the treatments.
